Adult and Pediatric Functional Medicine
Functional medicine is a systems biology–based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. Each symptom or differential diagnosis may be one of many contributing to an individual’s illness. At Discovery Wellness Group, we work to uncover the underlying factors contributing to you or your child’s chronic symptoms.
Our Functional Medicine Visits feature:
1-Hour new patient appointment
Functional medicine laboratory recommendations based on history and current symptoms
Follow-up appointments to discuss all laboratory results
Unique protocols and treatment plans based on laboratory results
Repeat testing to compare pre- and post-treatment
Ongoing care as needed to improve symptoms and/or promote healing
In-person and/or telemedicine appointments are available for patients both in-state and out-of-state
A patient does not need to be experiencing symptoms to benefit from the functional medicine approach, we are happy to provide services for general well-being!
Holistic Well Child and Acute Care
Discovery Wellness Group offers in-office well child visits and in-office or telemedicine (when appropriate) acute care visits from birth to 25 years of age. By taking the time to understand each child as a whole, our practitioners work to provide holistic, integrative, and preventative care that sets children up for optimal wellness. As your pediatric home, we will provide a safe space to listen to your concerns, provide holistic treatment options, and utilize natural remedies when appropriate. We are all about having open conversations with our patients and their parents in order to foster a trusting environment and to aid parents in making informed, educated decisions for their child.
Details:
Newborn visits must take place between days 3-5 of life, these can be performed in-office or in the patient’s home. If newborn screening (heel prick) is needed with a home birth baby, the visit must take place within the first 48 hours of life.

Newborn visits must take place between days 3-5 of life. If newborn screening (heel prick) is needed with a home birth baby, the visit must take place within the first 48 hours of life. We will travel up to 1.5 hours around the Cumming/Alpharetta area as well as up to 1.5 hours around the Athens area.
Pediatric Well and Acute Care Visits as well as Adult Annual Examinations and Acute Care Visits are available within a 1.5 hour radius of the Athens area.
IV Therapy

Peptide Therapy
Peptides are the building blocks of proteins and are composed of amino acids that work to regulate a variety of biological functions and processes. These naturally occurring peptides act as signaling molecules within the body and instruct other cells and molecules on what functions to perform.
There are over 7,000 known peptides within the human body and though some may be similar each is responsible for facilitating a different response and action within the body. Some common functions of peptides include providing pain relief, aiding in soft tissue repair, accelerating healing processes, promoting weight loss and lean muscle gain, reversing symptoms of sexual dysfunction, and improving hormone production and cognitive function.
